Philly is our team stopper.

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

If only we could play Philadelphia every night!  Well..that would get kind of boring, but I wouldn’t complain about the winning!  Fielder continues to hit at a level above that of a semi-second year player.  Rickie Weeks is coming on strong now, batting over .300 and making many of those hits timely.  Even Brady Clark has turned it around.  So it all falls back on the pitching.  We still needed 7 runs to win last night, which won’t win us games that often.  Let’s hope this deal with the Mets (Mike Adams for Jeremi Gonzalez) proves fruitful, although giving the opportunity first to De La Rosa seems like asking for trouble.  Still, Yost is a player’s manager, and most of the time, I trust his instincts and judgment as to this sort of thing.  We shall see.

A great sports day for Wisconsin!

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

What a day! The Packers, already thin at almost every position, now lost one of their key linemen in Kevin Barry. No U32 formations this year, huh? And to complete the day, the Brewers continued their annual let down succumbing to the Reds 7-3. Just a sorry state of affairs. Looks like I picked the perfect time to start this blog, since it is a rant!

At least Dwayne Wade links us to something positive today. That block he had at just under 1 minute in the game was phenomenal!

Maybe Dr. Gado can work on Ben Higuera?

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

In apparently good news today, Ben’s MRI showed that his shoulder is “structurally sound”.  What does that mean exactly?  If it is so sound, why has he spent more days on the DL than the Brewers have spent in 1st place in 20 years?  I don’t know about you, but I am worried that Ben has already started down the path that has consumed many a promising pitcher’s career.  I hope the report is true and that he will return to All-Star form in short order, as the Brewers are now headed towards pitching hell after such a great start.

Dr. Gado, we need a bedpan over here!

Interesting article on ESPN.com today about Samkon’s off-season stint at an area Green Bay hospital.

A Continuing Trend

16-10? Already lost a series against a sub-.500 team after sweeping the Phillies? That’s Brewers baseball! Never a dull moment, yet always gravitating towards mediocrity. I guess Mr. Melvin needs to work on finding some pitching. Again.

Welcome to the Rant!

Friday, May 19th, 2006

Come one, come all…welcome to the Rant! I am The Ranter, a displaced fan of teams from the great state of Wisconsin. This blog will be my podium, my soap box, if you will, from which to launch my tirades of both anger and joy concerning our decidedly mediocre teams. In the coming days, I hope to enlighten you with my thoughtful prose, while also revealing my less tempered, not-thought-out reactions to events which take place within our Wisconsin sports universe. I hope you enjoy my posts, whether you agree with them or not. And please, as this is a blog, comment, react, let everyone know how inane or insane you think I am! I am not an editorial writer, but I sure have an opinion and you certainly will hear it! I will admit, sometimes I may post something that even I think looks quite inept later on, but that is the beauty of the point of view of a fan! Good judgment and fair analysis is the exception, not the rule! I call ‘em as I see ‘em, and sometimes I am not wearing my glasses.

So, click one of the subscribe buttons, get ready to read and react, and let’s get this discussion started!

Oh wait…it is baseball season…great time to start a blog about Wisconsin sports.
